Take a boat ride to the nearby Chunnambar Boat House to see the backwaters and mangrove forests. Don't forget to bring sunscreen, water, and snacks, as there are no facilities on the beach.
Visit the experimental community of Auroville, founded in 1968 by Mirra Alfassa, known as "The Mother". If you have more time, consider adding a visit to the Pondicherry Museum to learn about the city's rich history and culture. Alternatively, visit the French Quarter to see the colonial architecture and enjoy a meal at one of the many French cafes. If you have less time, consider skipping Auroville and spending an extra day exploring Pondicherry's many cafes and boutique shops. Remember to dress conservatively when visiting spiritual sites and bring cash as many places do not accept credit cards.
