Start your adventure with a trek to the Chembra Peak, the highest peak in Wayanad. It takes about four hours to reach the summit, but the stunning views of the heart-shaped lake make it worth the effort. Remember to obtain a permit from the Meppadi forest office before you start the trek. After descending the peak, cool off with a refreshing swim at Soochipara Waterfalls, located 1 hour 30 minutes (22 miles) southeast of Chembra Peak.
On your second day, visit the Banasura Sagar Dam, an earthen dam formed by the Banasura Sagar reservoir. You can enjoy a range of activities here, including speed boating, kayaking, and zip-lining. Afterward, head to the Edakkal Caves, located 1 hour 10 minutes (22 miles) northeast of the dam. The caves are famous for their prehistoric rock engravings, and the hike to reach them is an adventure in itself.
If you have more time, you can add a trip to the Tholpetty Wildlife Sanctuary, which is 1 hour 20 minutes (31 miles) north of Kalpetta and home to tigers, leopards, and elephants. Alternatively, if you have less time, you can skip the Soochipara Waterfalls or the Banasura Sagar Dam activities, depending on your preferences.
