Rise early to start your journey to Chembra Peak, the highest peak in Wayanad. Trekking enthusiasts will love the challenging hike to the summit, which offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. The trek is approximately 5km long and takes about 3-4 hours to complete, including a stop at the heart-shaped lake halfway up. Be sure to carry enough water and snacks for the trek, as there are no facilities or shops on the way. After the trek, relax and unwind at the nearby Soochipara Falls, where you can take a refreshing dip in the pool.
Start your day with a visit to Banasura Sagar Dam, the largest earth dam in India. Take a walk along the dam and enjoy the stunning views of the surrounding hills and forests. Next, head to Meenmutty Waterfalls, one of the largest and most scenic waterfalls in Wayanad. The waterfall is located deep in the forest and is accessible via a 2 km trek through the lush greenery. Take a dip in the natural pool at the base of the waterfall and enjoy the cool water. End the day with a visit to the nearby Edakkal Caves, which are known for their prehistoric rock carvings.
If you have more time, consider visiting the Kuruva Islands, an uninhabited group of islands in the middle of the Kabini River. The islands are known for their dense forests, exotic flora and fauna, and bamboo bridges. If you have less time, you can skip the visit to Edakkal Caves and spend more time exploring the other attractions. Remember to carry enough water and snacks for your day trips, as there are limited options for food and drinks near the attractions.
