Banasura Sagar Dam is the largest earthen dam in India and a popular tourist spot in Wayanad. Enjoy boating in the serene backwaters of the dam or trek to the nearby Banasura Hill for a panoramic view of the dam and surrounding hills. There are also plenty of small shops selling souvenirs and snacks.
The Edakkal Caves are a prehistoric site with ancient petroglyphs dating back over 8,000 years. To reach the caves, you'll need to trek up a steep hill, but the stunning views from the top are worth it. There are also guides available to explain the history and significance of the petroglyphs.
The Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary is home to a wide range of flora and fauna, including elephants, tigers, and leopards. Take a jeep safari through the sanctuary to observe the animals in their natural habitat. There are also walking trails and a watchtower for birdwatching.
If you have more time, consider visiting the Soochipara Falls or the Pookode Lake. If you have less time, skip the Edakkal Caves and spend more time at the Banasura Sagar Dam or Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary.
