Start your adventure by driving to Rishikesh, the 'Yoga Capital of the World.' The town is surrounded by hills and bisected by the wide and sluggish Ganges River. You can enjoy rafting in the Ganges, bungee jumping, or take a dip in the river. Don't forget to visit the Laxman Jhula, a suspension bridge that attracts tourists and devotees alike. You can also attend the mesmerizing Ganga Aarti at Parmarth Niketan Ashram in the evening.
On day 2, drive to the scenic village of Auli, known for its snow-covered slopes and breathtaking views of the Himalayan range. Take a ride on the cable car from Joshimath to Auli and enjoy the panoramic views of the landscape. You can also indulge in adventure activities such as skiing, trekking or camping. Visit the Shankaracharya temple in Joshimath, one of the four mathas established by Adi Shankaracharya in the 8th century.
On the final day, drive to Badrinath Tapovan, a spiritual and serene place. The Badrinath Temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu, is a popular pilgrimage site for Hindus. The nearby Tapovan Hot Springs offer a refreshing dip in the hot water, believed to have therapeutic properties.
Drive to Vashudhara Fall, a natural waterfall situated near Badrinath. The 122 meters high waterfall offers a spectacular view of the Himalayas and the surrounding forests. The trek to the waterfall is moderately challenging, but the stunning views along the way make it worth the effort.
If you have more time, consider visiting the Valley of Flowers National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site, located 30 km from Joshimath. The park is known for its meadows of endemic alpine flowers and diverse fauna. If you have less time, you can skip the visit to Tapovan Hot Springs and explore the nearby Mana Village, the last village on the Indian side of the Indo-Tibetan border.
