5-Day Itinerary for Gangtok in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Tsomgo Lake
    40 minutes (16.5 km) from Gangtok

    Enjoy the serene beauty of the glacial lake surrounded by snow-capped mountains and rhododendron forests. Boat rides and yak rides are available for tourists. Make sure to carry warm clothes as the temperature drops in the evenings.

  2. Day 2: Nathula Pass
    2 hours (54.8 km) from Tsomgo Lake

    Located on the Indo-China border, Nathula Pass requires special permits. Witness the breathtaking views of the Himalayas, visit the Baba Harbhajan Singh Temple, and shop for souvenirs at the Indo-China border market. Avoid visiting on Mondays and Tuesdays as it remains closed.

  3. Day 3: Rumtek Monastery
    1 hour (23.2 km) from Nathula Pass

    One of the largest monasteries in Sikkim, Rumtek Monastery is a significant Buddhist pilgrimage site. Marvel at the stunning architecture, sculptures, and murals. Do not miss the Butter Lamp Ceremony at 6 pm. Entry is free, but photography is not allowed inside the monastery.

  4. Day 4: Ganesh Tok
    30 minutes (8.9 km) from Rumtek Monastery

    A small temple dedicated to Lord Ganesha, Ganesh Tok is situated at an altitude of 6,500 feet. Enjoy the panoramic views of the city, mountains, and valleys from the viewpoint. The temple is open from 6 am to 7 pm, and entry is free.

  5. Day 5: Banjhakri Falls and Energy Park
    30 minutes (9.2 km) from Ganesh Tok

    A natural waterfall located amidst lush green forests, Banjhakri Falls and Energy Park is a perfect spot for a picnic. The park also has sculptures, gardens, and a small lake. The entry fee is Rs 50 per person, and it remains open from 10 am to 5 pm.
