3-Day Itinerary for Wayanad in May 2023

1. Day 1: Edakkal Caves
   40 minutes (16.5km) from Kalpetta

   Edakkal Caves are natural caves with pictorial writings believed to be dating back to 6000 BC. You will have to trek uphill to reach the caves, but once there, you will be rewarded with breathtaking views of the valley below. The caves are open from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM every day, except for Mondays.

2. Day 2: Banasura Sagar Dam
   1 hour 20 minutes (43.4km) from Edakkal Caves

   Banasura Sagar Dam is the largest earthen dam in India and is located amidst a beautiful landscape. You can go boating and trekking around the dam. The dam is open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM every day.

3. Day 3: Chembra Peak
   1 hour 10 minutes (25.6km) from Banasura Sagar Dam

   Chembra Peak is the highest peak in Wayanad and is a popular trekking spot. The trek up the peak takes about 3 hours, but the view from the top is worth it. You will need to obtain permission from the Meppadi Forest Range Office before starting the trek. The office is open from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM and from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM every day.
