Start your journey to Kedarnath by taking a flight to Dehradun. From Dehradun, hire a taxi or take a bus to reach Gaurikund, the base camp for the Kedarnath trek. The drive from Dehradun to Gaurikund takes approximately 8-9 hours. After reaching Gaurikund, check into a hotel and rest for the night, preparing for the trek ahead.
Embark on the Kedarnath trek, which is a 16-kilometer uphill journey. Start early in the morning from Gaurikund and reach Kedarnath by late afternoon. Along the way, you'll pass through picturesque forests, waterfalls, and stunning landscapes. After reaching Kedarnath, visit the Kedarnath Temple, one of the holiest Hindu shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva. Spend the evening exploring the serene surroundings and attending the evening aarti at the temple.
On the second day of the trek, explore the nearby attractions in Kedarnath. Visit Bhairavnath Temple, located around 1.5 kilometers from the Kedarnath Temple. The temple offers panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. Afterward, you can hike to Vasuki Tal, a beautiful lake nestled amidst snow-capped peaks. Leave Gaurikund and head towards Rudraprayag, a town located at the confluence of the Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers. Visit the Rudraprayag Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, and seek blessings. Enjoy the serene beauty of the rivers and the surrounding Himalayan peaks. In the evening, witness the Ganga Aarti at the Rudraprayag Sangam, a truly mesmerizing experience.
Bid farewell to the serene mountains as you drive back to Dehradun from Rudraprayag. The journey takes approximately 6-7 hours. Once in Dehradun, you can explore the local markets, indulge in delicious local cuisine, and unwind before your departure the next day.
While in Kedarnath, don't miss the opportunity to visit Triyuginarayan Temple, located around 20 kilometers from Gaurikund. This ancient temple is believed to be the place where Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati got married.
