Transportation

Travelers in Playa del Carmen can easily rent a car, take a taxi, or use public transportation to get around. However, driving on your own can be very stressful in some areas, so it is recommended to book tours for the ruins or Xcaret Park. A taxi ride to downtown costs around $5, while a collective bus ride costs only $1.50. If you plan on taking the bus, keep in mind that it may not always be reliable and may be crowded, especially during rush hours.

If you have more time, consider visiting Ek Balam or Chichen Itza on day 1. For beer lovers, a trip to La Cerveceria Madrina can be added on day 3.
