5-Day Itinerary for Puri in November 2023

  1. Day 1: Jagannath Temple
    10 minutes (2.6 km) from Puri Beach

    Visit the famous Jagannath Temple which is a sacred Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Jagannath, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. The temple is an important pilgrimage site and is known for its annual Rath Yatra, or chariot festival. The temple has four entrances and is an architectural marvel with intricate carvings and sculptures. Please note that non-Hindus are not allowed to enter the temple premises.

  2. Day 2: Puri Beach
    15 minutes (3 km) from Jagannath Temple

    Enjoy a leisurely day at Puri Beach which is famous for its golden sand and clear waters. Take a dip in the sea or indulge in water sports like surfing and jet skiing. You can also go for a camel or horse ride along the coast. Don't forget to try some fresh seafood at the shacks located on the beach.

  3. Day 3: Konark Sun Temple
    1 hour 15 minutes (35 km) from Puri Beach

    Visit the UNESCO World Heritage site of Konark Sun Temple which is a 13th-century temple dedicated to the sun god Surya. The temple is built in the shape of a chariot with intricately carved stone wheels, pillars, and walls. The temple is also known for its erotic sculptures which depict the Kama Sutra. Please note that the temple is closed on Fridays.

  4. Day 4: Chilika Lake
    1 hour 30 minutes (50 km) from Konark Sun Temple

    Visit the largest brackish water lagoon in Asia, Chilika Lake which is home to a variety of migratory birds and marine life. You can take a boat ride to explore the lake and see the famous Irrawaddy dolphins. You can also visit the Kalijai Temple located on an island in the lake. Don't forget to try some fresh seafood at the local restaurants near the lake.

  5. Day 5: Raghurajpur Artist Village
    1 hour (30 km) from Chilika Lake

    Visit the picturesque village of Raghurajpur which is famous for its Pattachitra paintings and traditional handicrafts. You can see the artists at work and even take a workshop to learn the art of Pattachitra painting. You can also shop for souvenirs and handicrafts at the local stalls. Please note that the village is closed on Mondays.
