Start the day with a hike up to the Chembra Peak, the highest peak in Wayanad. The trekking trail is about 4km long and takes around 3-4 hours to complete. The peak offers a stunning view of the surrounding hills and the heart-shaped lake. Make sure to carry enough water and snacks, wear comfortable walking shoes, and dress in layers because the temperature drops at the top.
After the trek, head towards the Soochipara Falls, also known as Sentinel Rock Waterfalls. The waterfalls are surrounded by dense forests and are a great spot for a refreshing dip in the pool beneath the falls. During monsoons, the waterfalls are gushing, and the view is spectacular.
Start day two with a visit to the Tholpetty Wildlife Sanctuary, home to a variety of wildlife such as elephants, leopards, tigers, and various species of birds and butterflies. Take a jungle safari and explore the forest, guided by naturalists who offer insights into the flora and fauna of the region.
End your adventure in Wayanad with a visit to the Banasura Sagar Dam, the largest earth dam in India. The dam is surrounded by the Banasura Hills and offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape. Take a stroll around the dam, or go on a speed boat ride on the reservoir waters. You could also go on a short trek to the nearby hills for a panoramic view of the region.
