Start your day with a trek to the highest peak in Wayanad - Chembra Peak. It is a moderately difficult trek with scenic views of the surrounding hills and the heart-shaped lake halfway through. The trek takes about 3-4 hours round trip, so make sure to carry enough water and snacks. Once you reach the peak, take in the panoramic view of the Western Ghats.
After the trek, head to Soochipara Falls, a three-tiered waterfall surrounded by lush green forests and tea gardens. Take a dip in the cool waters or simply enjoy the scenic beauty. There are changing rooms and restrooms available at the site.
End your day with a visit to the Edakkal Caves, a prehistoric site with ancient rock carvings. The caves are located on top of Ambukutty Mala, and require a short trek up a steep hill. The carvings are believed to be over 5000 years old and depict various symbols and figures.
Start your second day with a visit to the Banasura Sagar Dam, the largest earthen dam in India. The dam is built across the Karamanathodu River and is surrounded by lush green hills. You can take a boat ride on the lake or go trekking in the nearby hills.
Next, head to the Thirunelli Temple, an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The temple is situated in the Brahmagiri hills and is surrounded by forests and rivers. It is believed that a dip in the nearby Papanasini river washes away one's sins.
End your trip with a visit to Kuruvadweep, a group of small islands located in the middle of the Kabini river. The islands are home to various bird species and have walking trails through the dense forests. You can take a bamboo raft ride to the islands and enjoy a picnic lunch.
