The Aguada Fort is a historic fort located in North Goa, built in the 17th century to prevent the entry of ships into River Mandovi. This spectacular fort has a lighthouse, a dry moat, and 13-meter high walls still standing the test of time.
Dudhsagar Falls, which is located on the Mandovi river in the border between Goa and Karnataka, is a must-see attraction in Goa. At a height of 310 meters, the falls look magnificent and create the illusion of a foamy sea, hence the name Dudhsagar which means "sea of milk" in Hindi. An exciting train ride on the Mandovi Express passing through Goa's vibrant landscapes is a perfect way to reach the falls.
Travelers to Goa can fly into Goa International Airport (GOI) which is well-served with domestic and international airlines. Taxis, buses, and rental cars are readily available at the airport. For getting around during the trip, renting a car or taking a taxi is convenient and available, but expect traffic and don't forget to negotiate the price before starting the journey.
Estimated costs: Taxi from Goa International Airport to Aguada Fort: INR 750 (25 minutes); Taxi from Aguada Fort to Dudhsagar Waterfalls: INR 3,000 (1 hour and 27 minutes)
If you have more time, you can explore other attractions of Goa, such as Baga Beach, Basilica of Bom Jesus, and Fort Chapora. However, if you have less time, you can do the Aguada Fort and Dudhsagar Waterfall on the same day, but it will be a bit tight. Don't forget to wear comfortable shoes and bring insect repellant to avoid discomfort or bites in the jungle areas.
Goa International Airport (GOI) is the only airport in Goa and is located in Dabolim, 30 kilometers from the state capital, Panaji. It serves both domestic and international airlines and offers many facilities like duty-free shops, car rentals, and food outlets.
