3-Day Wayanad Itinerary for June 2023

  1. Day 1: Chembra Peak
    30 minutes (15.8 km) from Kalpetta

    Start your journey by trekking to Chembra Peak, which is the highest peak in Wayanad. The trek is of moderate difficulty, and the view from the peak is breathtaking. You can see the heart-shaped lake, which is a stunning sight. The entire trek can take around 5-6 hours, so make sure to carry enough water, snacks and wear comfortable shoes. The scenery on the way to the peak is mesmerizing, with tea plantations and misty hills. Don't forget to carry a camera to capture the beauty of the place.

  2. Day 2: Edakkal Caves
    1 hour (23.1 km) from Chembra Peak

    Visit the historic Edakkal Caves, which have ancient carvings and writings dating back to the Neolithic era. The two caves are situated at a height of 1200 meters above sea level and are accessible by trekking. The trek is around 1 km and takes around 45 minutes. The view of the surrounding hills from the top is stunning. There is a small museum at the base of the hill that provides information on the history of the caves.

  3. Day 3: Banasura Sagar Dam
    1 hour 20 minutes (45 km) from Edakkal Caves

    End your trip with a visit to Banasura Sagar Dam, which is the largest earthen dam in India. The dam is surrounded by lush green hills and is a peaceful place to spend some time. You can also go on a speedboat ride or trek to the nearby hills for a panoramic view of the dam. There is a small park near the dam where you can relax and enjoy the view. Don't forget to try some local snacks and tea at the nearby stalls.
