3-Day Adventure Itinerary in Wayanad in May 2023

  1. Day 1: Chembra Peak
    1 hour (10 miles) from Kalpetta town

    Start your adventure by hiking up to the highest peak in Wayanad, Chembra Peak. The trek will take around 3-4 hours to reach the summit and is quite steep, but the view from the top is worth the effort. You will pass through lush green forests and a heart-shaped lake, which is a perfect spot for a picnic. Once you reach the peak, you will be amazed by the stunning panoramic views of the surrounding hills.

  2. Day 2: Banasura Sagar Dam and Meenmutty Waterfalls
    1 hour 15 minutes (29 miles) from Chembra Peak

    Take a drive to the Banasura Sagar Dam, the second-largest earthen dam in Asia. Enjoy the breathtaking views of the dam and the surrounding mountains from the watchtower. You can also take a speed boat ride on the dam's reservoir. Next, head to the Meenmutty Waterfalls, one of the largest waterfalls in Wayanad. Trek through the dense forest for around 45 minutes to reach the waterfall. Take a refreshing dip in the cool waters and relax amidst nature.

  3. Day 3: Thirunelli Temple and Kuruva Island
    1 hour 30 minutes (40 miles) from Meenmutty Waterfalls

    Visit the historic Thirunelli Temple, situated in a picturesque location amidst the Brahmagiri hills. This ancient temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and is believed to be over 3000 years old. Afterward, head to the Kuruva Island, a lush green forested island located in the middle of the Kabini River. Trek through the island to explore the diverse flora and fauna. You can also take a dip in the river and enjoy some bamboo rafting.
