5-Day Nature Itinerary in Valley of Flowers - June 2023

  1. Day 1: Ghangaria
    Starting Point: Govindghat (15.7 miles, 1 hour 20 minutes)

    Ghangaria is a small village situated on the confluence of the rivers Bhyundar Ganga and Pushpawati. It serves as the base camp for the Valley of Flowers trek. The 13 km trek from Ghangaria to the valley is filled with lush green meadows, water streams, and exotic flowers. You can explore the village and enjoy local cuisine.

  2. Day 2: Valley of Flowers National Park
    Starting Point: Ghangaria (4.5 miles, 3 hours)

    Valley of Flowers National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage site and a must-visit for every nature lover. The park is famous for its alpine flowers, meadows, and glaciers. The best time to visit is from mid-July to mid-August, but June is still a great time to see the flowers. You can take a guided tour for a better understanding of the flora and fauna.

  3. Day 3: Hemkund Sahib
    Starting Point: Ghangaria (6.2 miles, 5 hours)

    Hemkund Sahib is a Sikh shrine located at an altitude of 15,200 feet. The shrine is surrounded by seven snow-capped peaks and a crystal-clear lake. The trek to Hemkund Sahib is steep and challenging, but the serene environment and breathtaking views are worth it. You can take a dip in the holy lake and enjoy the Langar (community kitchen) food.

  4. Day 4: Badrinath
    Starting Point: Ghangaria (24.7 miles, 2 hours 20 minutes)

    Badrinath is a holy town situated on the banks of the Alaknanda River. The town is famous for the Badrinath Temple, one of the four Char Dham pilgrimage sites. The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and features a black stone idol. You can also visit the Tapt Kund hot springs, Narad Kund, and the Brahma Kapal.

  5. Day 5: Auli
    Starting Point: Badrinath (29.5 miles, 1 hour 40 minutes)

    Auli is a popular skiing destination in India, situated at an altitude of 8,200 feet. The town provides panoramic views of the Himalayas, including Nanda Devi, Kamet, and Mana Parvat. You can take a cable car ride to reach the top and witness the beauty of the landscape. You can also indulge in skiing, trekking, and camping.
