Start your adventure-filled trip in Wayanadu by hiking to the highest peak in the region, Chembra Peak. The 4 km trek up the mountain takes about 3 hours, but the view from the top is worth it. Take in the breathtaking panorama of the surrounding hills and the heart-shaped lake at the summit. It's a perfect spot for a picnic or a relaxing moment after the climb. Make sure to bring your camera to capture the stunning landscapes on the way and at the top.
After your hike, head to the Edakkal Caves, located in the Ambukuthi Hills. These caves are famous for their ancient rock carvings and paintings that date back to over 6,000 years ago. The trek to the caves is about 1 km from the parking lot through a scenic landscape dotted with tea and coffee plantations. Once inside, you can explore the two chambers and see the various inscriptions and drawings that depict the life and culture of prehistoric people.
On the second day, head to the Soochipara Waterfalls, a popular cascading waterfall located in the dense forests of Wayanadu. You'll have to trek about 2 km from the parking lot to reach the falls, but the walk is worth it. The falls are surrounded by rocky cliffs that are perfect for rock climbing and rappelling. Take a dip in the freshwater pool at the base of the falls, or simply admire the beauty of the cascading water.
End your trip by visiting the Banasura Sagar Dam, the largest earth dam in India, located in the midst of the Banasura hills. You can take a boat ride on the serene waters of the dam and enjoy the stunning views of the surrounding hills and valleys. You can also trek up to the Banasura Peak for a panoramic view of the dam and the surrounding wilderness.
