Begin your trip with a visit to the Gauda Cheese Market in Gouda. Watch how the local farmers and traders sell their cheese through an age-old tradition, learn about the history of cheesemaking, and have fun at the cheese tasting. There are also other handmade Dutch souvenirs and traditional street food stalls available.
Spend the next two full days at Efteling, a fairy tale-themed amusement park with various attractions suitable for both kids and adults. Enjoy the enchanting world of Fantasyland, ride the thrilling roller coasters, see the shows and parades, and have a picnic in the beautiful lush gardens. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes to satisfy your appetite.
Wrap up your trip by visiting Madurodam, a miniature park that showcases the Netherlands' landmarks, cultures, and traditions. Walk through the tiny replicas of iconic buildings such as the Rijksmuseum, the Royal Palace of Amsterdam, and the windmills of Kinderdijk. There are interactive displays, play areas for kids, and a souvenir shop.
Consider renting a car if you're traveling in a group. It provides flexibility and comfort for you to travel between cities and attractions. Public transportation, such as trains and buses, are also available but may be more time-consuming and with limited schedules. Estimated transportation costs are around €50 per person for a week.
If you have more time, you can also visit other nearby attractions such as Rotterdam (30 minutes from Gouda) or Scheveningen Beach (30 minutes from Madurodam). If you have less time, you can skip Madurodam, or spend only one day at Efteling.
