Two-Day Itinerary for Pondicherry in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Aurobindo Ashram

You can also attend a collective meditation session held daily at 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.

  2. Day 1: Promenade Beach
    5 minutes (1.2 km) from Aurobindo Ashram

    Stroll along the Promenade Beach, also known as the Pondicherry Beach, a long stretch of sand and seafront that offers beautiful views of the Bay of Bengal. You can also visit the local fish market and watch the fishermen bring in their catch of the day. There are also several cafes and restaurants nearby where you can grab a bite to eat.

  3. Day 1: Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus
    10 minutes (2.3 km) from Promenade Beach

    Visit the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, a beautiful church built in the Gothic style in the early 20th century. The church has stained glass windows depicting the life of Jesus and a bell tower that offers panoramic views of Pondicherry. You can also attend a mass held in English, Tamil, or French.

  4. Day 2: Paradise Beach

    Visit the Sri Aurobindo Handmade Paper Factory, a unique and eco-friendly paper-making unit that uses waste cotton and silk materials to produce handmade paper. You can see the entire paper-making process from start to finish and buy some beautiful handmade paper products as souvenirs.

  6. Day 2: Pondicherry Museum

    Explore the Pondicherry Museum, a fascinating museum that showcases the history, culture, and art of Pondicherry.
