4-Day Nature Itinerary for Dharmashala in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Triund Hill Trek
    30 minutes (7.5 miles) from Dharmashala

    In the morning, start the trip with an adventurous trek to Triund Hill. The 9-kilometer trek takes around 4 hours and is perfect for nature lovers who want to explore the beauty of the Dhauladhar mountain range. The trail goes through lush green forests and offers stunning views of the Kangra Valley. Once you reach the top, you will be mesmerized by the panoramic views of the snow-capped mountains and the valley. Spend some time relaxing and enjoying the scenery before trekking back down. On the way back, stop at one of the local restaurants to enjoy some local cuisine.

  2. Day 2: Bhagsunag Waterfall and Temple
    20 minutes (3.5 miles) from Dharmashala

    Begin your second day exploring the Bhagsunag Waterfall and Temple. The waterfall is located in a small village and is surrounded by lush greenery. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is believed to be more than 5000 years old. Take a dip in the cold water of the waterfall and enjoy the peace and tranquility of the place. After that, head to the temple to seek blessings. In the evening, visit the local market and indulge in some shopping for souvenirs and local handicrafts.

  3. Day 3: Kangra Fort and Masroor Rock Cut Temple
    1 hour 15 minutes (24 miles) from Dharmashala

    On day three, visit the Kangra Fort, which is one of the oldest forts in India. The fort has been witness to many battles and is now a popular tourist destination. The fort has many interesting features, including a museum, a temple dedicated to Goddess Ambika, and a prison cell. After that, head to the Masroor Rock Cut Temple, which is a group of 15 monolithic rock-cut temples built in the 8th century. The temples are carved out of the rocks and are a fine example of Indian rock-cut architecture. Spend the evening relaxing at your hotel or exploring the local area.

  4. Day 4: Dal Lake and Naddi Village
    30 minutes (6 miles) from Dharmashala

    End your trip with a visit to Dal Lake, which is a small and serene lake surrounded by deodar trees. The lake is considered holy and is surrounded by a temple and a gurdwara. Take a boat ride on the lake and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. After that, head to Naddi Village, which is a small and beautiful village located on top of a hill. The village offers stunning views of the Dhauladhar mountain range and is perfect for a picnic. Spend some time exploring the village and enjoying the local food before heading back to Dharmashala.
