Gangtok Family-Friendly 5-Day Itinerary for June 2023

  1. Day 1: Tashi Viewpoint
    15 minutes (3.7 miles) from Gangtok town

    Take in the panoramic views of the Himalayan range at Tashi Viewpoint. Weather permitting, you can see Kanchenjunga, Mount Sinolchu, and other peaks. In addition to the views, there are food stalls and souvenir shops.

  2. Day 2: Nathula Pass
    2 hours (32.4 miles) from Gangtok town

    Located at an altitude of 14,140 feet on the Indo-China border, Nathula Pass was a major trade route in ancient times. You can visit the memorial of Baba Harbhajan Singh, a soldier of the Indian army who died near the pass. A permit is required to visit Nathula Pass.

  3. Day 3: Tsomgo Lake
    1 hour 10 minutes (23.5 miles) from Gangtok town

    A glacial lake at an altitude of 12,400 feet, Tsomgo Lake is one of the top tourist destinations in Sikkim. You can enjoy a yak ride and take pictures in traditional Sikkimese dress. The area is also surrounded by snow-capped mountains.

  4. Day 4: Rumtek Monastery
    1 hour 15 minutes (6.3 miles) from Gangtok town

    Rumtek Monastery is the largest monastery in Sikkim and a center of Kagyu teachings of Tibetan Buddhism. The monastery houses a golden stupa containing relics of the 16th Karmapa. Visitors can also see the stunning murals, thangkas, and sculptures.

  5. Day 5: Banjhakri Falls and Energy Park
    20 minutes (4.4 miles) from Gangtok town

    Banjhakri Falls and Energy Park is a nature park that features a waterfall, forest, and sculptures. The park is designed to showcase the shamanic culture of the Lepcha tribe. Visitors can also enjoy a picnic and boating in the park.
