Vargala 2-Day Itinerary for May 2023

  1. Day 1: Vargala Beach
    15 minutes (5.2 miles) from Vargala City Center

    Start the day with a relaxing morning at Vargala Beach. Enjoy a dip in the crystal-clear waters, lounge on the soft sandy beach, and take in the breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. You can rent a beach umbrella and chair, purchase refreshments from local vendors and enjoy a picnic lunch. For the more adventurous, there are plenty of water activities on offer, such as jet-skiing, snorkeling, and kayaking.

  2. Day 1: Vargala City Center
    20 minutes (6.9 miles) from Vargala Beach

    After spending the morning at the beach, head to the heart of the city for its rich cultural experience. Explore the narrow streets filled with local shops, cafes, and restaurants. Visit the historic landmarks of the city such as Vargala Castle, which has been standing since the 14th century. Take a break at one of the cafes in the main square and try the local specialty, koulouri, a delicious sesame-covered bread.

  3. Day 2: Vargala Archaeological Site
    35 minutes (12.4 miles) from Vargala City Center

    Uncover the ancient history of Vargala by visiting the Archaeological Site. It is filled with ruins of ancient temples, amphitheaters, and homes. With an impressive collection of artifacts from the Hellenistic period to the Roman Empire, the site offers a glimpse into the past.

  4. Day 2: Vargala Winery
    25 minutes (8.5 miles) from Vargala Archaeological Site

    End your day with a visit to a local winery for a wine-tasting experience. Vargala is known for its excellent wine production, and the winery offers tours of the vineyards and cellars. Try out the local varieties, such as Xinomavro and Assyrtiko, and enjoy a beautiful sunset view from the winery terrace.
