Start your trip by relaxing on one of Puerto Plata's picturesque beaches at Playa Dorada. Enjoy the crystal clear waters, soft sand, and a range of beachside amenities, including restaurants, bars, and souvenir shops.
If you're up for an adventure, take a trip to Damajagua Waterfalls for some excitement and relaxation. Hike through the lush rainforest, swim in crystal clear water, explore caves and tunnels, and slide down waterfalls.
Spend your last day at Ocean World Adventure Park, an extraordinary marine theme park featuring a range of attractions and shows, including dolphins, sea lions, sharks, and more. You can also take part in a variety of water and land activities, such as snorkeling, swimming, and zip lining.
Most attractions in Puerto Plata are located within a short distance from each other, so hiring a taxi or a driver for the day is a great option. Negotiate the price beforehand and ask for recommendations from your hotel or resort. Public transportation is also available and inexpensive, but not the most convenient way of traveling around the city.
Estimated travel costs: $10-15 CAD per transportation day.
If you have more time, explore other nearby beaches, such as Sosúa or Cabarete. Alternatively, if you have less time, skip Damajagua Waterfalls and spend more time at Playa Dorada or Ocean World Adventure Park.
Gregorio Luperón International Airport (POP) is the main airport serving Puerto Plata. It's located approximately 20 minutes (16 km) east of the city center and offers direct flights from various Canadian cities, including Toronto and Montreal.
