Jaisalmer Family Friendly Itinerary - November 2024

1. Day 1: Jaisalmer Fort
   10 minutes (1.3 miles) from central Jaisalmer

   Jaisalmer Fort is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a must-visit attraction in Jaisalmer. Built in the 12th century, the fort is known for its intricate architecture, stunning temples, and narrow lanes. Spend the day exploring the fort, visiting the Jain Temples, and enjoying the views of the city from the top. You can also take a camel ride outside the fort and watch the sunset over the sand dunes.

2. Day 2: Patwon Ki Haveli
   15 minutes (1.7 miles) from Jaisalmer Fort

   Patwon Ki Haveli is a beautifully preserved mansion that belonged to a wealthy trader in the 19th century. The haveli is famous for its intricate carvings, stunning murals, and colourful glasswork. Spend the day exploring the five interconnected havelis and learning about the history of the region. You can also visit the nearby Nathmal Ki Haveli and Salim Singh Ki Haveli.

3. Day 3: Gadisar Lake
   20 minutes (2.1 miles) from Patwon Ki Haveli

   Gadisar Lake is a peaceful oasis in the heart of Jaisalmer. The lake was built in the 14th century to provide water to the city, and today it’s a popular spot for boating and picnicking. Spend the day relaxing by the lake, exploring the nearby temples and shrines, and watching the migratory birds that visit the region in November.

4. Day 4: Thar Heritage Museum
   20 minutes (2.4 miles) from Gadisar Lake

   The Thar Heritage Museum is a small but fascinating museum that showcases the culture and traditions of the Thar Desert. The museum has a collection of antique artefacts, musical instruments, textiles, and jewellery. Spend the day learning about the history of the region and admiring the beautiful exhibits.

5. Day 5: Bada Bagh
   30 minutes (3.1 miles) from Thar Heritage Museum

   Bada Bagh is a serene garden complex that houses the royal cenotaphs of the Maharajas of Jaisalmer. The complex is known for its beautifully carved chhatries, stunning views of the surrounding desert, and peaceful atmosphere. Spend the day strolling through the gardens, enjoying a picnic, and admiring the intricate carvings on the chhatries.

6. Day 6: Kuldhara Village
   40 minutes (4.3 miles) from Bada Bagh

   Kuldhara Village is an abandoned ghost town that was once home to a prosperous community of Paliwal Brahmins. The town was abandoned in the 19th century due to mysterious circumstances, and today it’s a popular tourist attraction. Spend the day exploring the ruins of the village, learning about its history and folklore, and enjoying the peaceful atmosphere.
