Nature Lover's Itinerary for Chennai in June 2023

  1. 8:00AM: Guindy National Park

    Start your day with a visit to Guindy National Park, one of the few national parks located in the heart of a city. Spread over 2.8 square kilometres, it has a diverse range of flora and fauna. Go for a nature walk or a bird watching session with a guide. Don't miss the butterfly park and the children's park inside the premises.

  2. 11:00AM: Besant Nagar Beach
    30 minutes (7.5 miles) from Guindy National Park

    Head to the Besant Nagar Beach for some refreshing sea breeze. Take a leisurely walk along the shore or rent a bicycle to explore the area. Try out some local snacks like sundal and bajji from the street vendors. Don't forget to take a dip in the Bay of Bengal and watch the sunset from here.

  3. 2:00PM: Arignar Anna Zoological Park
    45 minutes (11.9 miles) from Besant Nagar Beach

    The Arignar Anna Zoological Park, also known as the Vandalur Zoo, is one of the largest zoological parks in South Asia. It is home to over 1500 species of animals, birds and reptiles. Take a safari ride to see the animals in their natural habitat. Check out the aquarium and the butterfly house too.

  4. 5:00PM: Chembarambakkam Lake
    30 minutes (16.2 miles) from Arignar Anna Zoological Park

    End your day with a peaceful visit to Chembarambakkam Lake, one of the major reservoirs that supply water to Chennai. Take a boat ride and watch the sunset over the tranquil waters. You can also go fishing or have a picnic with your loved ones. Don't forget to carry your camera to capture the scenic beauty.
