Ericeira itself is a tiny town that can be explored on foot. You can get to Sintra-Cascais Natural Park, Mafra National Palace, and Tapada Nacional de Mafra by bus. Taxis and rental cars are also available. Renting a scooter or bicycle is a good option for exploring the nearby beaches. Expect to pay €20-€50 per day for rental costs.
For serious surfers, try to catch the waves between September and April. If you prefer milder temperatures, the best time to visit is from May to June or September to October. If you have more time, you can consider visiting Lisbon, only 37km away, or others beaches in the region such as Praia da Ribeira, Praia da Empa and Praia da Baleia.
The main airport serving Ericeira is Lisbon Portela Airport (LIS). The airport is about 32km from Ericeira, and it takes about 40 minutes by car. There are regular taxis and private transfer services available from the airport to Ericeira.
