Walk along Corso Umberto, the main street of Taormina, filled with boutiques, restaurants and cafes. Spend the rest of the day lounging on the beach or indulging in some Italian gelato.
Visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Syracuse, the birthplace of Archimedes. Admire the Baroque architecture of the historic center on the Island of Ortigia. Stroll through the colourful streets and piazzas, visit the 7th century BC Temple of Apollo and the Fountain of Arethusa, a natural spring dating back to Greco-Roman times.
Explore the beautiful Baroque town of Noto, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The historical center is filled with extravagant buildings and churches, all made from the golden stone typical of the region. Don't forget to sample some of the local almond sweets and wine!

Head to Modica, the city of the Sicilian Baroque. Visit the Duomo di San Giorgio, an architectural masterpiece, and indulge in some traditional Sicilian food (we recommend trying the chocolate, made with ancient Aztec techniques).
Go for a walk among the ancient temples of Agrigento, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visit The Valley of the Temples which contains some of the best-preserved ancient Greek temples. The site is especially impressive during sunset, when the stone temples glow with light against the fiery skies.

To make the most of your Sicilian adventure, renting a car is highly recommended. From Catania airport, you can rent a car (starting from €20 per day) and use it throughout your trip. A full tank of petrol costs around €50 and will get you around 500km.
If you have more time, we recommend visiting the Aeolian Islands, a stunning archipelago located off the northern coast of Sicily. Alternatively, for those with less time, Ragusa, Modica, and Agrigento can be combined into one day trip.
The primary gateway to Sicily is Catania–Fontanarossa Airport (CTA) (Catania, Italy). It is approximately a 30-minute drive from the city center of Catania and serves as a hub for Alitalia, Ryanair, and EasyJet.
