Kollukumalai Itinerary for July 2023

  1. Day 1: Kollukumalai Tea Estate
    45 minutes (10.6 miles) from Munnar

    Kollukumalai Tea Estate is the highest organic tea plantation in the world. The tea plants are grown at an altitude of over 7900 feet. Take a guided tour of the tea factory to learn about tea processing and enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding valley. Don't forget to taste the freshly brewed tea.

  2. Day 1: Meesapulimala
    1 hour 20 minutes (23.5 miles) from Kollukumalai Tea Estate

    Meesapulimala is the second-highest peak in the Western Ghats and offers panoramic views of the surrounding hills and valleys. The trek to the peak takes around 5 hours and is best done with a local guide. You will pass through shola forests, grasslands, and rocky terrain. The view from the top is breathtaking and well worth the effort.

  3. Day 2: Lockhart Gap Viewpoint
    1 hour 15 minutes (29.6 miles) from Meesapulimala

    Lockhart Gap Viewpoint offers a stunning view of the Lockhart Valley. You can see the tea estates, forests, and the distant hills. The viewpoint is easily accessible by car and has a small tea shop. Spend a few hours taking in the view and enjoying some snacks.

  4. Day 2: Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary
    2 hours 30 minutes (63.9 miles) from Lockhart Gap Viewpoint

    Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna, including elephants, leopards, and deer. Take a guided trek to see the wildlife and enjoy the natural beauty of the sanctuary. You can also visit the sandalwood forest and the Thoovanam waterfalls. The sanctuary is closed on Tuesdays.
