Start your cultural immersion journey by visiting the famous Shri Sai Baba Sansthan Temple. The temple is dedicated to Sai Baba, a revered saint and spiritual leader who lived in Shirdi. The temple complex is spread over a vast area and includes several shrines, a museum, a library, and accommodation facilities for devotees. June is an excellent time to visit the temple, as you can participate in the daily aarti and witness the fervour of the devotees. Be prepared for long queues, as the temple attracts a massive crowd. You can also explore the nearby Lendi Garden, where Sai Baba used to meditate.
After seeking blessings at the Shri Sai Baba Sansthan Temple, head to the nearby Dwarkamai Mosque. This mosque is significant as Sai Baba spent a significant part of his life here. You can see the room where Sai Baba used to stay and the dhuni (sacred fire) that he used to light. The mosque also houses a few personal items of Sai Baba, such as his satka (bamboo staff) and kafni (robe). It is a peaceful place where you can sit and meditate.
After a day of spiritual exploration, unwind at the Wet N Joy Water Park. The water park has numerous water rides, including wave pool, lazy river, and water slides. There are also several food stalls and a restaurant where you can enjoy a delicious meal. The park is open from 10 am to 6 pm. Make sure to carry your swimwear and sunscreen.
On the second day of your cultural immersion journey, visit the Shirdi Sai Heritage Village. The village is a replica of Shirdi during the time of Sai Baba and includes several life-size statues, buildings, and exhibits that showcase the life and teachings of Sai Baba. You can witness several activities that used to happen during the time of Sai Baba, such as pottery making, oil pressing, and weaving. The village also has a restaurant where you can enjoy traditional Maharashtrian cuisine. The village is open from 10 am to 9 pm.
End your cultural immersion journey at the Khandoba Mandir. The temple is dedicated to Khandoba, a local deity who is considered to be the god of fertility and agriculture. The temple has a unique architecture and is adorned with colourful paintings and sculptures. The temple is located on a hill and offers a panoramic view of Shirdi. The temple is open from 5 am to 9 pm.
Make sure to carry comfortable shoes and clothing as you will be visiting several places. You can also visit the Sai Baba Market, which is located near the temple, to buy souvenirs and gifts. Do try the traditional Maharashtrian cuisine, such as vada pav, poha, and misal pav, at the local eateries. You can also attend the Sai Baba Aarti at the temple, which takes place twice a day.
