Start your trip in Tekkady, a beautiful hill station known for its spice plantations and wildlife sanctuary. Visit the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary and take a boat ride on the Periyar Lake. You can spot elephants, tigers, and other animals in their natural habitat. Take a spice plantation tour and learn about the various spices grown in the region. Don't forget to buy some spices to take back home.
Visit Alleppey, also known as the "Venice of the East" for its network of canals and backwaters. Take a houseboat ride through the backwaters and enjoy the beautiful scenery. You can also visit the Alleppey Beach and enjoy some seafood. Don't forget to visit the Alleppey Lighthouse and climb to the top to get a panoramic view of the city and the backwaters.
Visit Kumarakom, a picturesque village located on the banks of Vembanad Lake. Take a backwater cruise and enjoy the serenity of the lake. Visit the Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary, which is home to many migratory birds. You can also try some local cuisine at one of the many restaurants in the village.
Head back to Tekkady and visit some of the places you missed on the first day. You can also go trekking in the hills and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Don't forget to try some local street food like banana chips and tapioca chips.
Depart for Cochin International Airport and catch your flight back home.
If you have more time, you can also visit Munnar, a hill station famous for its tea plantations. You can also try some adventure activities like bamboo rafting and zip-lining in Tekkady. Make sure to pack comfortable shoes and clothes for the trip. Try to avoid visiting during the monsoon season (June-September) as it can be quite rainy.
