Thailand has several transportation options such as tuk-tuks, public buses, taxis, and boats, which are relatively cheap. However, for long journeys or visiting different regions, taking internal flights is recommended for comfort and speed. The cost and time for domestic flights range from $40 to $100 and take one to two hours.
If you have more time, add a day trip to the beautiful Phang Nga Bay or the Doi Inthanon National Park. If you have less time, the Chiang Mai experience can be shortened to one day, and two days can be spent in Bangkok. Always carry a mosquito repellent and stay hydrated during the summer.
Thailand connects to the world through two main international airports: Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) in Bangkok, which is around 30 km away from Bangkok's center, and Phuket International Airport (HKT), which is around 32 km away from Phuket's center.
