The Ooty Botanical Gardens is spread over 55 acres and features more than 650 species of plants and trees. The gardens were established in the mid-19th century and are home to a fossilized tree that is said to be more than 20 million years old. The gardens also have a beautiful Italian-style garden and a conservatory that houses several exotic plants.
Doddabetta Peak is the highest mountain in the Nilgiri Hills, standing at 8,650 feet above sea level. Sim's Park is a botanical garden located in Coonoor, about 20 km from Ooty. The park covers an area of 12 hectares and is home to several varieties of plants and trees, including many rare species.
