4-Day Meghalaya Itinerary for July 2023

  1. Day 1: Shillong
    30 minutes (10 km) from Umiam Lake

    Start your trip in the beautiful city of Shillong, also known as the "Scotland of the East". Visit the Don Bosco Centre for Indigenous Cultures to learn about the various tribes of North East India, and then head to the Shillong Peak for stunning panoramic views of the city. End the day with a visit to Ward's Lake, a serene man-made lake surrounded by gardens and walking paths.

  2. Day 2: Cherrapunji
    2 hours (55 km) from Shillong

    Head to Cherrapunji, the wettest place on earth, and explore the Mawsmai Cave, a limestone cave with impressive stalactites and stalagmites. Visit the Seven Sisters Falls, a stunning seven-segmented waterfall, and then head to Nohkalikai Falls, the tallest plunge waterfall in India.   3. Day 3: Dawki
    2 hours 30 minutes (80 km) from Cherrapunji

    Visit the picturesque town of Dawki and see the crystal-clear waters of the Umngot River. Take a boat ride on the river and enjoy the stunning scenery. Head to the nearby Mawlynnong Village, known as the cleanest village in Asia, and explore its beautiful gardens and bamboo structures. End the day with a visit to the Balancing Rock, a unique rock formation that seems to defy gravity.

  4. Day 4: Mawphlang
    1 hour 30 minutes (50 km) from Dawki

    Explore the charming village of Mawphlang and visit the Sacred Forest, a dense forest of ancient trees and plants that is considered sacred by the local Khasi tribe. Learn about the rich cultural heritage of the Khasi people at the nearby Khasi Heritage Village, and then head to the David Scott Trail, a historic trekking path that offers stunning views of the surrounding hills. End the day with a visit to the Elephant Falls, a beautiful three-tiered waterfall.
