Sabarimala 3-Day Motorcycle Riding Itinerary for June 2023

  1. Day 1: Sabarimala Temple
2 hours (80 miles) from Kochi

Start your journey early in the morning to reach Sabarimala Temple before the crowds start pouring in. The temple is located on a hilltop, and to reach there, you have to climb 18 steps. The temple is dedicated to Lord Ayyappa and is considered one of the holiest shrines in India. You can participate in the Poojas and rituals performed at the temple. The temple is open from 3:00 AM to 1:00 PM and then from 4:00 PM to 11:00 PM.

  2. Day 2: Periyar National Park
2.5 hours (100 miles) from Sabarimala Temple

As you ride through the winding roads of Kerala, you'll encounter the Periyar National Park. This wildlife sanctuary is home to a wide variety of animals, including elephants, tigers, gaurs, and many more. You can take a boat ride in the Periyar Lake to spot some of these animals. The park is open from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and the boat rides start at 7:30 AM, 9:30 AM, 11:15 AM, 1:45 PM, and 3:30 PM.

  3. Day 3: Varkala Beach
3 hours (120 miles) from Periyar National Park

End your journey by riding to the serene Varkala Beach. The beach is known for its unique geological features, and the high cliffs overlooking the beach provide a stunning view. You can spend the day relaxing on the beach, taking a dip in the sea, or trying out some water sports. There are many restaurants and cafes around the beach where you can try some of the local delicacies.

Recommendations

If you're interested in trekking, you can explore the hills surrounding the Sabarimala Temple. The trek is a bit challenging, but the view from the top is worth the effort. Also, don't forget to try the local cuisine, especially the traditional Kerala Sadhya, which is served on banana leaves.

To maximize your fun, try to start your journey as early as possible, so you have enough time to explore each location. Wear comfortable clothes and carry sunscreen and enough water to stay hydrated during the ride.

If you're a wildlife enthusiast, you can also visit the Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary, which is around 70 miles from the Periyar National Park. The sanctuary is home to several endangered species and offers some unique wildlife experiences.
