Start your adventure by visiting the Bandipur National Park, a tiger reserve located between the Western Ghats and Nilgiri Mountains. Here, you can enjoy wildlife safaris and trekking on designated trails. The park is home to tigers, elephants, Indian rock pythons, and many other species. You can also visit the Himavad Gopalaswamy Betta temple located on a hill inside the National Park. The best time to visit is between June and October when the park is open from 6:30 am to 8:30 am and 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm.
Head to Chembra Peak, the highest peak in Wayanad, and embark on a challenging trek of nearly 4 km. The trail is steep, but the scenic views of the surroundings and the heart-shaped lake at the top make it worth the effort. You can also camp overnight at the peak with prior permission from the Forest Department. The peak is open from 7 am to 2 pm, but you need to start the trek before 11 am.
If you have more time, you can also visit the Edakkal Caves that feature ancient rock carvings, the Banasura Sagar Dam, and the Kuruva Island. To maximize your fun, carry enough water, snacks, and wear comfortable shoes and clothing. You can also hire a guide for the trek to Chembra Peak.
