  1. Day 1: Ajantha Caves

  2. Day 2: Ellora Caves
    8 minutes (2.7 miles) from the Kailasa Temple

    The Ellora Caves are another UNESCO World Heritage site and feature 34 caves with Hindu, Buddhist, and Jain sculptures and carvings. Start your morning at the Kailasa Temple, the largest monolithic structure in the world, and admire the intricate carvings and architecture. In the afternoon, visit the Jain caves and learn about the Jain religion and its history in India. In the evening, head to the Daulatabad Fort to enjoy the sunset views and explore the historic fort.

Recommendations

If you have time, consider visiting the Bibi Ka Maqbara, a beautiful mausoleum built by Aurangzeb in memory of his wife. You can also take a day trip to the Ajanta and Ellora caves from Mumbai or Pune.
