4-Day Itinerary for Meghalaya in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Shillong
    30 minutes (9.7 km) from Umiam Lake

    Morning: Start your day by visiting Elephant Falls, a beautiful waterfall located just outside of Shillong. Spend your afternoon exploring the Don Bosco Centre for Indigenous Cultures, which has fascinating exhibits on the various tribes of Northeast India. In the evening, head to Police Bazaar for some shopping and local street food.

  2. Day 2: Cherrapunji
    1 hour 30 minutes (54.3 km) from Shillong

    Morning: Visit the Nohkalikai Falls, the tallest plunge waterfall in India, and trek to the Double Decker Living Root Bridge in Nongriat village. Afternoon: Explore the Khasi monoliths and Mawsmai Cave. Evening: Enjoy the sunset at the Eco Park and relax for the rest of the evening.

  3. Day 3: Dawki
    2 hours 20 minutes (83.6 km) from Cherrapunji

    Morning: Head to the Umngot River and take a boat ride on the crystal-clear water. Afternoon: Visit the nearby Mawlynnong village, known as the cleanest village in Asia and explore the living root bridge. Evening: Relax at the beautiful Krang Suri Falls.

  4. Day 4: Shnongpdeng
    1 hour 20 minutes (43.3 km) from Dawki

    Morning: Go for river-rafting and kayaking in the Umngot River. Afternoon: Trek to the Rainbow Falls and explore the limestone caves. Evening: Enjoy a beautiful sunset at Shnongpdeng beach and relax for the rest of the evening.

Recommendations

If you have extra time, you can consider visiting Nartiang Monoliths, Laitlum Canyons, or the Balpakram National Park. You can also take a day trip to Mawphlang Sacred Forest or the beautiful Tura town.
