Kerala Family Trip - June 2023

  1. Day 1: Kochi
    30 minutes (23 km) from Cochin International Airport

    In the morning, visit the famous Mattancherry Palace, also known as the Dutch Palace, and learn about the history of Kerala. In the afternoon, head to the Fort Kochi Beach for a relaxing stroll and visit the Chinese Fishing Nets, a popular attraction in Kochi. In the evening, watch a Kathakali performance, a traditional dance-drama that originated in Kerala.

  2. Day 2: Munnar
    4 hours, 15 minutes (130 km) from Kochi

    Start the day early and drive to Munnar, a hill station known for its tea plantations. In the morning, visit the Tata Tea Museum and learn about tea processing. In the afternoon, go on a nature walk in the Eravikulam National Park and spot the endangered Nilgiri Tahr. In the evening, enjoy a cup of tea while watching the sunset from one of the many viewpoints in Munnar.

  3. Day 3: Thekkady
    3 hours, 20 minutes (90 km) from Munnar

    In the morning, take a boat ride on the Periyar Lake in the Periyar National Park and watch the wildlife, including elephants, tigers, and birds. In the afternoon, visit a spice plantation and learn about the different spices grown in Kerala. In the evening, enjoy a cultural show at the Mudra Cultural Centre.

  4. Day 4: Alleppey
    3 hours (140 km) from Thekkady

    In the morning, take a houseboat ride in the backwaters of Alleppey and enjoy the scenic beauty of the area. In the afternoon, visit the Alleppey Beach and relax on the sandy shores. In the evening, enjoy a traditional Kerala meal on the houseboat while watching the sunset.

Consider visiting the Athirapally Waterfalls, one of the largest waterfalls in Kerala, and the Vembanad Lake, the longest lake in India. You can also take a day trip to the nearby city of Kollam to explore the Ashtamudi Lake and the Thangassery Light House. Make sure to try the local cuisine, including appam, puttu, and fish curry.
