Two Days in Alibaug: Sun, Sand, and Sea

  1. Day 1: Beachside Bliss

    Start your day early at the Nagaon Beach for a serene sunrise experience. After a morning dip, head to Banyan Tree for a hearty Indian breakfast. The beach is famous for water sports, so indulge in a jet ski ride, banana boat ride, or parasailing. For lunch, head to the beachside Shree Ganesh Datta Snacks for a local Maharashtrian thali. Post lunch, take a short ferry ride to the Kolaba Fort, built by Shivaji Maharaj. The fort has two freshwater wells and a temple dedicated to a patron goddess of fishermen. End your day with some chill time at the Akshi Beach, famed for its white sand and clear waters.

  2. Day 2: History and Culture
    10 minutes (3.5 km) from Akshi Beach

    Start your day with a visit to the Kanhoji Angre Samadhi, a memorial dedicated to the Maratha Admiral. Then, head to the Karmarkar Museum, which showcases the woodcarvings of the famous Karmarkar family. For lunch, head to the Sanman restaurant for some delicious seafood, or enjoy a thali at the Chirag Dining Hall. In the afternoon, visit the Varsoli Beach, a secluded beach with soft sands and clear waters. For a serene end to your day, visit the Alibaug Magnetic Observatory, established in 1904 and well-known for its geomagnetic research.

Recommendations

Don't miss out on the Alibag Fort, also known as the Colaba Fort, which is about 45 minutes from the city center and has been declared a protected monument by the Archaeological Survey of India. Also, check out the Kanakeshwar Forest, a peaceful and secluded forest with a beautiful temple at the top of the hill. You could also take a ferry to the Mandwa Beach, which is a popular beach with water sports activities.
