While in Bora Bora, there is no public transportation system. The most common mode of transportation is the rental of a motorboat, available at most hotels or air taxi docks. To travel from one part of the island to another, boats are the way to go. Motorized boats with a guide can cost around $50-$70/hour, while smaller non-motorized ones are also available for rent.
If you have more time, consider spending an additional day to try out more water sports, such as windsurfing, jet-skiing, or kitesurfing. If you have less time, you can consider dropping the Mount Otemanu hike or the spa treatment to free up an entire day to spend at the resort or exploring the island at your leisure.
Bora Bora Airport (BOB) is on a motu (islet) off the west coast of the main island of Bora Bora. The airport is situated approximately five miles northwest of Vaitape, the largest town in Bora Bora. You can take a speedboat transfer from the airport to your hotel or resort. Domestic airlines Air Tahiti and Air Tahiti Nui both have regular flights that connect Bora Bora to other islands in French Polynesia and beyond, including Los Angeles and Paris.
