Five-Day Itinerary for Kedarnath Dham in August 2023

  1. Day 1: Kedarnath Temple
    5 minutes (0.1 miles) from Kedarnath Helipad

    Visit the holy Kedarnath Temple, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, located at an altitude of 3,583 metres. After darshan, explore the nearby ancient Bhairav ​​Temple, which is dedicated to Lord Bhairav, the fierce manifestation of Lord Shiva. Spend the evening enjoying the scenic beauty and peace of the Kedarnath valley.

  2. Day 2: Vasuki Tal Trek
    2 hours 30 minutes (8.3 miles) from Kedarnath Temple

    Start early and go on a trek to Vasuki Tal, a beautiful high altitude lake located at an altitude of 4,135 metres. The trek is a bit challenging but rewards you with breathtaking views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks. After trekking back, visit the Shankaracharya Samadhi and the Gandhi Sarovar, dedicated to the father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi.

  3. Day 3: Sonprayag and Triyuginarayan Temple
    2 hours 30 minutes (20.1 miles) from Vasuki Tal

    Drive to Sonprayag, located at the confluence of the rivers Basuki and Mandakini, and take a dip in the holy river. Then visit the Triyuginarayan Temple, which is famous for being the site of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati's wedding. Spend the evening relaxing at the picturesque Gaurikund.

  4. Day 4: Dudhsagar Falls and Guptkashi
    2 hours 30 minutes (23.5 miles) from Triyuginarayan Temple

    Visit the magnificent Dudhsagar Falls, which is one of the highest waterfalls in India at a height of 310 metres. After enjoying the beauty of the falls, drive to Guptkashi and visit the ancient Vishwanath Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva. Spend the evening shopping for local souvenirs and handicrafts in the local market.

  5. Day 5: Chopta and Tungnath Trek
    2 hours 30 minutes (53.7 miles) from Guptkashi

    Drive to Chopta and start a trek to Tungnath, which is the highest Shiva temple in the world at an altitude of 3,680 metres. The trek is easy and also offers mesmerizing views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks. After trekking back, drive to Ukhimath and visit the Omkareshwar Temple, which is dedicated to Lord Shiva.
