7-Day Itinerary: Delhi to Haridwar to Sonprayag to Kedarnath in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Delhi
    Indira Gandhi International Airport
    5h 30min flight

    Explore the markets of Old Delhi in the morning, visit the Red Fort in the afternoon and watch the Light and Sound show. End the day with a visit to the Lotus Temple.

  2. Day 2: Haridwar
    Delhi to Haridwar by train or car (4 hours, 200km)

    Attend the Har Ki Pauri Ganga Aarti in the evening, visit the Chandi Devi Temple in the morning and Mansa Devi Temple in the afternoon. Take a dip in the Ganges at Har ki Pauri.

  3. Day 3: Sonprayag
    Haridwar to Sonprayag by car (7 hours, 260km)

    Visit the Guptkashi temple, then the Triyuginarayan Temple and finally reach Sonprayag at dusk. Enjoy the scenic drive through the mountains.

  4. Day 4: Kedarnath
    Trek to Kedarnath (20km, 6-7 hours)

    Trek to Kedarnath and visit the Kedarnath Temple, one of the four sacred shrines in Hinduism. Take in the stunning views of the Himalayas and enjoy the cool mountain air. Spend the night in Kedarnath.

  5. Day 5: Kedarnath
    Explore Kedarnath

    Visit the Bhairavnath Temple and Gandhi Sarovar. Enjoy the scenic beauty and peaceful surroundings.

  6. Day 6: Sonprayag
    Trek back to Sonprayag (20km, 6-7 hours)

    Start early and trek back to Sonprayag. On the way, visit the Triyuginarayan temple and enjoy the scenic beauty of the mountains. Rest for the evening.

  7. Day 7: Delhi
    Sonprayag to Delhi by car (11 hours, 450km)

    Head back to Delhi, stopping at Devprayag and Rishikesh along the way. In Delhi, visit the India Gate and Qutub Minar, and if time permits, go shopping in Connaught Place before leaving for the airport.

Recommendations

Consider visiting Hemkund Sahib, Valley of Flowers, and Badrinath while in the region. Side trips to Auli and Joshimath are also highly recommended. Make sure to carry appropriate clothing and gear for the trek to Kedarnath.
