5-Day Adventure Itinerary for Kedarnath in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Trek to Kedarnath
    Start point: Sonprayag (23.4 miles, 1 hour 30 minutes by car from Guptkashi)

    In the morning, we start our trek to Kedarnath. Along the way, we’ll experience the beauty of nature, including waterfalls and dense forests. As we reach Kedarnath, we’ll visit the Kedarnath Temple and explore the surrounding area. In the evening, we’ll rest and enjoy the peacefulness of the surroundings.

  2. Day 2: Vasuki Tal Trek
    1.6 miles from Kedarnath (1 hour trek)

    In the morning, we’ll trek to Vasuki Tal, which is a high altitude lake situated at a height of 14,200 feet. The trek to Vasuki Tal is a challenging one, but the view is worth it. On the way, we’ll see the panoramic view of the Himalayan peaks. In the evening, we’ll return to Kedarnath for dinner and rest.

  3. Day 3: Visit Gandhi Sarovar
    1.6 miles from Kedarnath (1 hour trek)

    Today we’ll visit the Gandhi Sarovar, which is a glacial lake situated at a height of 14,000 feet. Gandhi Sarovar is a picturesque location with a panoramic view of the snow-capped mountains and glaciers. In the afternoon, we’ll head back to Kedarnath for lunch. In the evening, we’ll visit the Shankaracharya Samadhi and Bhaironath Temple.

  4. Day 4: Trek to Triyuginarayan Temple
    18.6 miles from Kedarnath (1 hour 40 minutes by car)

    In the morning, we’ll drive to Sonprayag and then trek to Triyuginarayan Temple, which is one of the famous pilgrimage sites located in the Triyuginarayan village. The temple is known for its mesmerizing architecture and the eternal fire that is said to have been burning since the time of the Mahabharata. In the evening, we’ll return to Kedarnath for dinner and rest.

  5. Day 5: Gaurikund Trek
    13.7 miles from Kedarnath (1 hour by car)

    In the morning, we’ll trek to Gaurikund, which is a beautiful location situated at an altitude of 6,000 feet. Gaurikund is famous for its hot water springs and is also the starting point of the trek to Kedarnath. We’ll spend some time exploring the area and then head back to Kedarnath for lunch. In the evening, we’ll take a dip in the hot water springs in Kedarnath and enjoy the last night of our adventurous trip.

If you have some more time in Kedarnath, you can also consider visiting the Vasuki Tal Trek, Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary, and Chandrashila Trek. You can also take a side trip to Badrinath, which is another important pilgrimage site. To maximize your fun, make sure to carry comfortable trekking shoes, warm clothes, and a good camera to capture the breathtaking views.
