4-Day Family-Friendly Itinerary for Shimoga, Karnataka in May 2023

  1. Day 1: Jog Falls
    50 minutes (16.2 miles) from Shimoga

    In the morning, head to Jog Falls, one of the highest waterfalls in India. Enjoy the stunning view of the waterfall cascading down from a height of 830 feet. Take a walk to the viewpoint and listen to the roaring sound of the water. In the afternoon, head to the Linganamakki Dam and enjoy a boat ride. Later in the evening, visit the Gandhi Park and spend some time with your family.

  2. Day 2: Kavaledurga Fort
    1 hour 38 minutes (39.7 miles) from Jog Falls

    Start your day by visiting the Kavaledurga Fort, a trekker's paradise. The fort is located on a hilltop and offers a panoramic view of the surrounding area. After the trek, head to the Tyavarekoppa Lion and Tiger Safari. In the evening, visit the Sakrebyle Elephant Camp and watch the majestic elephants in their natural habitat.

  3. Day 3: Gajanur Dam
    1 hour 3 minutes (33.9 miles) from Kavaledurga Fort

    Head to the Gajanur Dam in the morning and enjoy the serene surroundings. You can also go boating on the reservoir. In the afternoon, visit the Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary and spot some rare species of birds and animals. Later in the evening, visit the Sacred Heart Church and take a stroll around the beautiful church.

  4. Day 4: Mandagadde Bird Sanctuary
    1 hour 8 minutes (31.4 miles) from Gajanur Dam

    In the morning, visit the Mandagadde Bird Sanctuary and watch various species of birds in their natural habitat. In the afternoon, head to the Koodli Temple and seek blessings. Later in the evening, visit the Tunga Anicut Dam and enjoy the beautiful sunset.
