Start your day early with a trek to Chembra Peak, the highest peak in Wayanad. The trek is of moderate difficulty and takes about 3-4 hours to complete. The stunning views of the surrounding hills and valleys from the peak are worth the effort. After the trek, head to a nearby restaurant for lunch to refuel. Spend the afternoon relaxing at the Pookode Lake, where you can go boating, try ziplining or explore the nearby aquarium. In the evening, visit the Soochipara Falls, a three-tiered waterfall surrounded by lush greenery. You can take a dip in the cool waters or just enjoy the natural beauty.
On your second day, visit the Banasura Sagar Dam, the largest earth dam in India. The scenic drive to the dam takes you through picturesque tea and coffee plantations. You can go boating on the reservoir or try some adventure activities like zip-lining or trekking. Later, head to the Edakkal Caves, which are famous for their prehistoric rock carvings and scenic views of the surrounding countryside. Enjoy a late lunch at the nearby restaurant before heading back to Kalpetta.
If you have time, consider visiting the Kuruvadweep Island, which is a beautiful and secluded island in the middle of the Kabini River. You can also take a day trip to the Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary, which is home to a variety of animals including elephants, tigers, and leopards. For some nightlife, head to the Vythiri Resort, which has a bar and a discotheque.
