Exploring Ponmudi in Two Days

  1. Day 1: Golden Hills

    Evening: Visit the Peppara Wildlife Sanctuary, just 15 km from Kallar River. Home to a variety of wildlife, including elephants, wild boars, and leopards, this sanctuary offers a jeep safari through the dense forest.

  2. Day 2: Agasthyarkoodam
    1 hour 20 minutes (40 km) from Ponmudi town

    Morning: Drive to the Agasthyarkoodam Biosphere Reserve and start your trek to Agasthyarkoodam Peak. This is a challenging trek, but the views from the peak are worth it. The peak is also considered to be a holy site by many and is home to a shrine dedicated to the sage Agasthya.
    Afternoon: Head back to Ponmudi town for lunch and visit the Ponmudi Hill Station for a panoramic view of the surrounding hills. You can also visit the Deer Park and stroll through the tea gardens.
    Evening: End your day by visiting the Meenmutty Falls, located 25 km from Ponmudi town. These falls are a sight to behold and are surrounded by lush green forests.

Recommendations

If you have time, consider visiting the Neyyar Dam and Wildlife Sanctuary, which is located just 30 km from Ponmudi town. You can also take a day trip to the nearby beaches of Kovalam and Varkala.
