4-Day Adventure Itinerary for Kedarnath in June 2024

  1. Day 1: Kedarnath Temple
    10 minutes (0.5 miles) from Kedarnath Helipad

    In the morning, visit the Kedarnath Temple, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. This ancient and holy temple is located at an altitude of 11,755 feet and is only accessible by foot or helicopter. Spend the afternoon trekking to Gandhi Sarovar, a picturesque lake located at a distance of 3 km from the temple. In the evening, attend the Aarti ceremony at the temple and witness the captivating sight of the temple being illuminated by hundreds of diyas.

  2. Day 2: Vasuki Tal
    1 hour 30 minutes (5.5 miles) from Kedarnath Temple

    For a challenging adventure, head to Vasuki Tal, a high altitude lake at an elevation of 14,200 feet. The trek is difficult, however, the views of the surrounding mountains and glaciers are breathtaking. In the morning, trek to Vasuki Tal and spend some time relaxing and enjoying the serene surroundings. In the afternoon, trek back to Kedarnath. In the evening, unwind at one of the local restaurants and try out some of the local delicacies.

  3. Day 3: Chorabari Tal
    1 hour (2.5 miles) from Kedarnath Temple

    For a less strenuous adventure, hike to Chorabari Tal, also known as Gandhi Sarovar. The trek is relatively easy and offers splendid views of the surrounding mountains. In the morning, trek to Chorabari Tal and spend some time enjoying the pristine beauty of the lake. In the afternoon, trek back to Kedarnath. In the evening, relax at your hotel or explore the local market.

  4. Day 4: Sonprayag
    1 hour 30 minutes (23 miles) from Kedarnath

    On your final day, head to Sonprayag, a scenic town located at the confluence of the rivers Basuki and Mandakini. In the morning, drive to Sonprayag and take a dip in the holy waters of the Mandakini river. Spend the afternoon exploring the local market and trying out some of the local snacks. In the evening, drive back to Kedarnath and bid farewell to this beautiful town.

In addition to the above attractions, you can also consider visiting the Bhairon Temple, which is located about 1.5 km from the Kedarnath Temple. For a side trip, head to Triyuginarayan Temple, which is located about 20 km from Kedarnath. To maximize your fun, make sure to carry appropriate trekking gear and follow safety protocols.
