3-Day Itinerary for Delhi in May 2023

  1. Day 1: Qutub Minar
    25 minutes (9.5km) from Indira Gandhi International Airport

    Qutub Minar is a towering landmark of Delhi, standing at 73 meters tall. Spend the morning exploring the stunning architecture of this UNESCO World Heritage site. In the afternoon, visit the nearby Mehrauli Archaeological Park, which is filled with historical ruins and monuments. End the day by watching the sunset from the beautiful Hauz Khas Fort.

  2. Day 2: Red Fort & Jama Masjid
    30 minutes (10km) from Hauz Khas Fort

    Visit the iconic Red Fort in the morning, which was once the residence of Mughal Emperors. Afterwards, head to Jama Masjid, one of the largest mosques in India. In the afternoon, visit the Raj Ghat, a memorial to Mahatma Gandhi. End the day with a visit to the Lotus Temple, a stunning temple built in the shape of a lotus flower.

  3. Day 3: India Gate & Humayun's Tomb
    20 minutes (7km) from Lotus Temple

    Start the day by visiting the iconic India Gate, a war memorial dedicated to Indian soldiers. In the afternoon, head to Humayun's Tomb, another UNESCO World Heritage site and the final resting place of the Mughal Emperor Humayun. End the day by visiting the bustling markets of Chandni Chowk and sampling some of the delicious local street food.

Recommendations

If you have extra time in Delhi, consider visiting the Akshardham Temple, which is known for its stunning architecture and beautiful gardens. A side trip to Agra to see the Taj Mahal is also highly recommended. To maximize your fun, try taking a rickshaw ride through the markets of Old Delhi.
