On your way to the airport, stop off at the Tarcoles Bridge to see the massive crocodiles basking in the sun. Take a guided tour of the river to learn more about the wildlife in the area.
Transport can be mainly achieved through car rental which averages about $30 per day or through public transport, which can cost around $1-2 for each ride. The time differences between locations are indicated above in the itinerary, so it is easy to plan taking your preferred mode of transport into account.
If you have less time, consider skipping Corcovado National Park and staying an extra day at Arenal Volcano or Manuel Antonio. If you have more time, consider adding in the Tapanti National Park or the Barra Honda Caves for more unique nature adventures.
Costa Rica has two airports that serve international flights. The Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO) is located in San Jose and is about a 3-hour drive from La Fortuna. The other airport is Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport (LIR) located in Liberia which is about 2 hour drive from La Fortuna.
