4-Day Motorcycle Riding Itinerary in Delhi (June 2023)

  1. Day 1: India Gate
15 minutes (3.9 km) from the airport

Start your trip with a visit to India Gate, a war memorial located in the heart of New Delhi. This 42-metre high archway was built in memory of Indian soldiers who died in World War I. You can take a stroll, have a picnic, or play outdoor games at the lawns surrounding India Gate. You can also rent a boat and paddle in the nearby lake. Don't miss the stunning view of India Gate at night when it is illuminated with lights.

  2. Day 2: Red Fort
25 minutes (9.1 km) from India Gate

Today, ride your bike to the historic Red Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a symbol of Indian independence. Built in the 17th century by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan, the fort houses several museums and buildings including Diwan-i-Khas, Diwan-i-Am, and Mumtaz Mahal. Do not miss the light and sound show in the evening that depicts the fort's history.

  3. Day 3: Qutub Minar
35 minutes (18.3 km) from Red Fort

Take a ride to Qutub Minar, a towering 73-metre-high minaret built by Qutub-ud-din Aibak in the 12th century. The complex also houses several other monuments including Quwwat-ul-Islam Mosque and Alai Darwaza. Do not miss the iron pillar, believed to have been erected in the 4th century AD, which has not rusted yet.

  4. Day 4: Akshardham Temple
40 minutes (18.1 km) from Qutub Minar

End your trip with a visit to the magnificent Akshardham Temple, a Hindu temple dedicated to Swaminarayan. The temple showcases Indian culture, spirituality, and architecture through its exhibitions, musical fountain show, and boat ride. Do not miss the temple's light and sound show in the evening that depicts the life and teachings of Swaminarayan.

Recommendations

If you have more time, you can visit the Lotus Temple, Humayun's Tomb, or Jama Masjid. Side trips to Agra (for the Taj Mahal) or Jaipur (for the Hawa Mahal and the Amber Fort) are also worthwhile. To maximize your fun, try local street food like chaat, golgappe, and parathas. Do not forget to carry a water bottle, sunscreen, and a first-aid kit. Stay hydrated and safe while exploring Delhi's rich history and culture.
